Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Safety Auditor is responsible for managing and auditing compliance across aquatic facilities and teams. This role provides professional expertise in training, facility maintenance, operations, and safety initiatives. The Safety Auditor also plays a key role in the development and implementation of programs that enhance overall safety and regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety Procedure Development: Develop consistent and streamlined safety procedures for all facilities to ensure uniformity and reduce risk across locations.
  • Certification Compliance Auditing: Establish procedures for, and conduct regular audits of, certification databases to ensure all personnel meet required standards.
  • Operational Manual Review and Development: Audit existing facility operational manuals and develop new ones as needed to maintain best practices and ensure alignment with current protocols.
  • Regulatory and Inspection Support: Assist with tracking facility inspections, permitting processes, and the submission of necessary documentation internally and to relevant regulatory bodies.
  • ADA Compliance Oversight: Coordinate facility compliance with ADA requirements, working in partnership with the Special Programs Division (SPD) and Facility Services Division (FSD).
  • Maintenance Tracking and Auditing: Collaborate with facilities to identify, track, and audit maintenance issues using internal systems, ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
  • Aquatic Facility Safety Audits and Drills: Oversee and execute a comprehensive aquatic safety audit program, including the facilitation of emergency drills.
  • Training and Certification Program Coordination: Plan, coordinate, and facilitate training programs such as lifeguard certifications, instructor-level courses, and other safety-related training that supports divisional needs.
  • Program and Process Evaluation: Research and evaluate internal and external programs and processes, using findings to propose new initiatives or enhancements to existing operations.
  • Adaptive Instruction Techniques: Modify teaching approaches to meet the needs, experience, and abilities of each participant, ensuring effective and inclusive instruction.
  • Instructional Leadership: Organize and direct instructional activities to deliver high-quality programs and training to all assigned participants.
  • Enforcement of Safety Standards: Enforce pool safety standards and operational rules for all individuals using the aquatic facilities.
  • Special Program Development: Assist in the planning and execution of special programs, events, or instructional activities as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Complete other duties and special projects as assigned to support the division’s overall mission and safety objectives.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in aquatics or related fields (e.g., pool management, construction, maintenance, or repair).
  • Working knowledge of pool systems, including filtration, circulation, and chemical balancing.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to identify safety issues and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, bend, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; travel between sites required.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

  • To support the business this role will have a varying schedule to accommodate the seasonal fluctuations and requires flexible schedules which may require working early mornings, evenings, weekends, and work extended hours depending on customer and business needs.
  • Be available "after hours" for emergency situations.
  • Ability to work during summer holidays and available on Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, and Labor Day and corresponding weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting, Standing, and Walking for long durations.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy equipment up to 85+ lbs.
  • Ability to work in water and perform physical labor.
  • Working outdoors for prolonged periods of time, often at commercial properties (hotels, gyms, resorts).
  • The role requires working in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, or cold temperatures.
  • Travel to different job sites and client meetings using a company vehicle or personal transportation.
