Job Description

Full-Time Commercial Estimator

Smart Corporation, Inc. – Austin, TX

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year (DOE) + Benefits

Who We Are

Smart Corporation, Inc. is a second-generation, Texas-based painting contractor with over 50 years of experience in multifamily, hospitality, student housing, and commercial projects. We’re not just here to paint walls—we’re here to build relationships, shape skylines, and deliver consistent, high-quality results across every project—and to celebrate the wins (big and small) while having fun doing it.

We live by our values: Profit. Relationships. Integrity. Dedication. Innovation. Family. That means we care about people just as much as production—and we believe business can be both professional and fun.

What You’ll Do

  • Promote company services to general contractors and CapEx teams.
  • Coordinate and manage ITBs and bid opportunities.
  • Bid commercial and light industrial painting projects exceeding $200K.
  • Review specifications, drawings, and project schedules and bid accordingly.
  • Perform digital takeoffs and run them through our estimating/bidding software (On-Screen Takeoff, Planswift, Quick Bid, etc.).
  • Prepare clear, detailed, and competitive proposals.
  • Review and respond to ASIs and RFIs during the bidding process.
  • Communicate effectively with GCs, field teams, office staff, and vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong client and vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with project managers for smooth hand-offs.
  • Maintain organized digital filing and estimating records.
  • Contribute to process improvements as we modernize systems and tools.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience as a Commercial Paint Estimator or Project Manager.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specs, and schedules.
  • Knowledge of paint products, finishes, and applications; drywall/finish knowledge a plus.
  • Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff, Planswift, Quick Bid, or similar take-off/estimating software.
  • Comfort with MS Office, Google Workspace, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Existing client and vendor relationships are a plus.
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and pass a background check.

What You’ll Get

  • Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
  • Group health, dental, vision, and voluntary AD&D.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • PTO + paid holidays.
  • Business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • The chance to grow with a company that values consistency, accountability, quality—and enjoying the process.

Why Work With Us

At Smart, you’re not just a number in an estimating department—you’re part of a tight-knit team where your work directly drives growth. We’ve built a 50+ year track record on trust, quality, and relationships, and we’re committed to work / life balance, staying sharp, modern, and innovative while keeping our family-style culture intact.
